Oops, 3 year old son, now that must be great now the suns out Jataal, Royton park is also looking very good so we have some excellent places in north ward to enjoy with youngsters and pets. Just come back from Hollingworth Lake and it was packed, thousands of birds and ducks on the ice early on, and children feeding them with grandparents, the squarking and honking was fantastic- when i returned the ice had melted and all the roads were parked up.
Function, fit for purpose, quality, durabillity, interesting/exciting things to do, appearance/design, conveniance of location, cleanliness, surface treatment, visibility/ lighting, seating, waste bins, safety, noise/nuesence, landscape. = 15 criterias x 10 points each - 150 maximum, 1 for bad - 10 for excellent, my rating 80 points.
My 3 year old loved it. Surely thats more important than if adults like the swings or not?
There's your answer as to whether it will be successful or not.

What is your rating for the Salmon field pond ?

How many points for smiling faces, contented parents, learning skills, exercise, creative minds, less ASB??
Lets be honest here no park will suit everyone the best way to find out is to take the kids and ask em what do you think the old park or the new one. I asked my grandkids and they thought the new one was brill what else can I say.
Regards Lucky Jim.
Enjoyment of the park is number one top priority, and this has always been the case even with few attractions, now we have something being added its bound to be popular in the first few weeks when the weathers improving, wear and tear will be an issue later on and we may not be able to give it the attention it deserves, this is where one off funding schemes fall down, being prepared for eventuallities and after care needs to be in place.
Having fun could include trampling daffodils or swinging from trees on ropes or setting dogs on squirrals or hunting frogs or collecting birds eggs, swailling grass, and leaving beer cans scattered about and burning picnic benches and tables, all good fun for the minority, this is the reality and yes some will not see it or see no harm, thats fine as long as everybody can have a good time who's bothered, let have no rules or restrictions, the parks are for everyone not just the few. There you go have another go at me, after all you seem to have the rose tinted glasses on, and only see the good, lets all be positive and be grateful for whats been done. (!)
You are correct in seeing me a being a positve person.
Why were the media recently saying
"We had our worst Snow for 25 years"
I thought is was decent quality, not too powdery or too slushy. You could make really decent snowballs out of it that did not crumble in your hands and there were some brilliant Snowmen around.
The Office workers in Manchester ran a competion as to which group could come up with the best themed Snowman in thier dinner hour.
What is your rating for the Salmon field pond ?
Too wet.

And full of water.
Me and my daughter went in the half term, we liked the weird swing but that was it.
Hi Clutter, keep smiling girl and good luck with the excercise. I received some details i requested regarding the playbuilder project, my good fiend Richard Vink was a bit slow but now i am happy he has found the time to reply, i could do with having a desk next to his to keep up with this young fellow, but then how many desks have they got room for.
If you ever get the chance to listen to these officers and councillors for that matter, you will find some good in all of them, once the hate (distrust) and suspicians and doubts to there abilities are set aside, i actually get to like them and start to forgive them, dont like the words hate & anger as this is a freindly society.
When Dogford park was being opened, it was a duplicate of that held in Royton park. It gave the Lib Dems a photo opportunity but non for labour, it was a shame and i cannot excuse it, its not good that people cannot act together and these events have to be held seperately.
Rochdale has been building these same playbuilder schemes and i have stopped to view a few, one was on Kirkholt and another off Albert Royds street, these are equiped with much bigger equipment and designed for multi users to play on, i wonder why this is and suggest its being spread very thin in Oldham so each ward gets something to show- again indicating selfish use of money or over complications with landscaping concerns.
