Telephone Mast removed in Royton

Scott started a topic in the Councillor’s Corner complaining that Telephone mast had been put up without permission. After a few pages worth of discussion with Steve Bashforth (mainly), Scott has now reported that there is now one less telephone mast in Royton.

Nice to see the Councillor’s Corner being put to good use.

Armed Robbery in Royton - Flowers for Cashier?

There was an Armed Robbery in Royton today. A female cashier had a gun held to her head. There is talk in the forums of us chipping in and buying her some flowers or some other gift to let the cashier know that we sympathise with the trauma she must have been put under. Oldham Police to use Bluetooth to tackle Drug Crime

View the discussion topic HERE
This just came in from Pete who sends me Homewatch Updates:

Oldham police and drugs services are using Bluetooth technology to gather information about drug dealers during ‘Tackling Drugs, Changing Lives week’ (19-24 May) to disrupt the supply of drugs in the area.

The Bluetooth transmitters will be sending out an animated message advising residents that police are tackling drugs in the area, and encouraging them to contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if they have information about drug dealing in their area.

Royton Rag - Last Ever Issue

Carl Spiers has just been on the eRoyton forum to announce that the June 2008 issue of his very popular “Royton Rag” will be the very last issue printed.

The below quote is taken from the Carl Spiers / Royton Rag discussion topic (click that link to view the full story)

Says Carl:

Appreciate the comments, it is heartbreaking but inevitable, I was so proud that I reached so many Roytoners from all around the world, New Zealand, Australia, USA, Afghanistan, Iraq, Germany, Ireland and all over the Uk.

And more importantly made people smile, many of them being OAP’s, some in their 80’s & 90’s

Update
I’m currently discussing with Carl about the possibility of converting it to a digital distribution via eRoyton. Check on the progress at www.eroyton.co.uk/roytonrag

Oldham Police ask us to Grass on the Drug-Dealers

I applaud Oldham Police for encouraging residents to Rat on a Rat. Nice to see some pro-active stuff going on to tackle drugs. Remeber folks, drug use leads to burglary. Grass that druggy!!
